The Moeller Primetime Invitational cross country meet will be held Friday, Aug. 26 at the Kings Island Golf Center Bruin Course.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with the junior high competition. The varsity girls competition is at 9 p.m., while the varsity boys meet is at 9:30 p.m.

As of Wednesday, 15 schools have committed to the event, including 11 male teams and 13 female teams, according to Moeller coach Charlie Lytle.

Lytle credited the Golf Center for allowing the runners to compete on the golf course and also the Warren County Visitors Bureau for helping to organize the event.

The meet contains two out-of-area schools Sandusky and Eaton which will spend the night in the area and go to Kings Island for a team-building event.  This helps out the local economy as well, Lytle said.

Lytle said the golf course will contain effective footing for the runners and good viewing for spectators.

Teams are very excited, Lytle said. Our guys

He’ll soon have to choose between the two.

Starling is just the latest high school star to make a decision between playing two sports. In

COLUMBUS — Michael Bennett could have graduated early to kick start his promising football career at Ohio State.

“This is the reason I stayed,” said Bennett after super-charging Centerville’s Division I boys team runner-up effort at Saturday’s state track and field meet.

Bennett was clutch, winning the shot put on his final throw (63 feet, 11 inches) and placing second in the discus (185-4). Michael Melchor added a third in the 110 high hurdles (14.51), and Centerville’s 800-meter relay placed third from lane seven.

Benny McGowan added a seventh in the shot but couldn’t score in the discus. That left jus
